Birthday Season Has Begun!

If you've noted my silence on this blog over the last couple of weeks (as my dear sister Jamie has), you might have just figured that life got a little crazy. Well, it has. We are now what I like to call "Birthday Season" in my house. December brings my husband's birthday...as well as that of Jesus of course. Then, January comes along with birthdays of both of my daughters.

Right after we get over the turkey-induced coma from Thanksgiving, it's time to get shopping and planning for the birthday celebrations ahead. It is my husband's birthday during the first week of December, so I have to shift into high gear pretty quickly. You see, he is NOT one of those men who says, "I don't need to celebrate my birthday." No, no. Brett loves cake and presents and being celebrated. I think he realized that he needed to marry me when I bought him 23 presents for his 23rd birthday. (Yes, I really did that. However, most great ideas of mine are borrowed from others. That one came from my big sister Jess.)

This past weekend, we had the joy of celebrating his birthday with some of his family. His sister Rachelle is married to a talented wildlife artist Peter Mathios who had an art show in our area this weekend. So, the Mathios family as well as my parents-in-law came out for the show and to celebrate. It was such a nice treat to be all together! Plus, we all got to relive a bit of childhood with one of the gifts I bought for Brett...

It plugs right into your TV set and includes 8 different games. It was lots of fun...especially for only $20! They make another Atari version that really looks like an old Atari controller.

So, now that Brett's birthday has passed, it's time for Christmas gifts and the girls' birthdays. Needless to say, I'm going to be one busy gal in the coming weeks. If I can, I'm going to try to make some gifts and shop from home. We'll see how it turns out! I'll try not to get too swamped with it all and post a little more regularly on the blog.

PS - If you or someone you know likes wildlife art, you can shop from home too! Check out Mathios Studios. Peter has a selection of original art, prints as well as book that he just released. They would make great Christmas gifts!
