Room Makeover Help

Lately, I've been thinking about changing the girls' room again. No, not another true "makeover" like I did in April. I really do like how that turned out, and so does Ella. I'm just trying to figure out how to fit two twin beds in the room when Lucie makes the switch to a big girl bed. Right now we have a daybed with a trundle underneath that we could just continue to use and have Lu sleep on the trundle. However, I don't really want to have to mess with putting away a bed and bedding every day.

Right now, I'm leaning towards getting a bunk bed that can be separated into two twin beds. I found this one online at Walmart. It's the style that I'm looking for, it's white, it's a good price (just over $200) with free shipping to the store.

Now, I'm not sure that I want Ella sleeping in a top bunk just yet. So, I thought that we could set up the beds as simple twins and put up the guardrails on Lucie's bed. However, I'm not quite sure how I can manage to arrange them in the room and still have some room for them to play. I'd rather not have to mess too much with the decorations I put up (shelf, tree wall art, silk veil, etc.).

Here is what their room looks like now. We'll get rid of the daybed and crib but the rest of the furniture stays if we can manage it.

To sum up, we'll have two twin beds, a bookshelf, a long dresser as well as a chest that I'd like to fit in there with some space to play. So, does anyone have brilliant ideas? Or am I just too unrealistic in my hopes for their room? Help me out! :)

Hey Janel,

Do you know the measurements of a twin bed vs. the crib you currently have Lucie in? You could always try Ella out on the top bunk for a few days and see how she does... :) Or maybe put the guard rail that comes with the bed up there with her and/or figure out how to put another guard rail up for Lucie. Or do you just not want Ella climbing up and down the ladder yet? What does Jessica do for her kid's rooms?

We can fit two twin beds with the headboards at the window with space for a small bookshelf in between. Maybe you could put the toy chest in between the beds. Your tall bookshelf could maybe fit at the end of one of the beds....not sure about the dresser. Good luck! And by the way, so excited about your walmart bunk bed find.....i'm going to tell Rusty about it!

Dawn - My sister is anti-bunkbed. They've got them but they keep them as separate beds.

The twin bed is longer than the crib for sure. If we left the beds where the bed and crib now are, there wouldn't be much space to access the bookshelf and we'd have to ditch the chest. I suppose we could put the two beds coming out from the wall where Ella's bed is now with space in between, but then there isn't much floor space for them to play. I kinda regret buying such a long dresser now but I don't want to get rid of it either.

I suppose if I did bunk the beds where Ella's is now, I would have to take down the hanging veil. But, maybe I could make some sort of reading corner where Lucie's crib is now. I'm just not sure...
