Happy Independence Day!

Happy 4th of July everyone! Brett took a brief break from remodeling the kitchen this morning so that we could go to the Solvang Parade. I think it is the first parade we've gone to as a family. Ella seemed to really enjoy it. But, then again, why wouldn't she? There were horses, kids on bikes, and most importantly lots and lots of candy being thrown. Afterward the candy appetizer and parade, we headed to the park in the village and had a hot dog lunch. Then it was back home for a nap (Janel & Ella) while Brett got back to work on the kitchen. We'll probably head back into town for more festivities later this evening.

We're also awaiting news from Uncle Troy & Auntie Aimee. Their baby is due today so we shall see if she makes an on-time appearance. If she does, Troy & Aimee can call it "Loss of their Independence" Day! Life really does change once you have a baby -- but it is worth it!

I would have gladly sacrificed my freedom yesterday, but alas, it has not yet been required of me.
Darn it.
