Happy Birthday Lucie!

Today is Lu's 5th Birthday! It's been a bit of a whirlwind thus far, and I've still got tons to do. But, it's gonna be fun, fun, fun!

At our house, the Birthday Girl gets to choose the menu so today it is:
  • Trix Cereal for breakfast. We almost NEVER buy junk cereal so this is a real treat for them. I served Lucie's in this "You are special" bowl that I made. It reminds me of the red "You are special today!" plate my mom used to let us use on our birthdays when I was a kid.
  • Chick-fil-A for lunch. Brett and I took Lu out for a special lunch after preschool. This is a very rare event, so she was thrilled to be able to do it.
  • "Long noodles," chicken, and green beans for dinner. "Long Noodles" translates to the Lemon Noodles from one of Susan Branch's cookbooks. It's Lucie's favorite meal. Once before I thought "long noodles" meant Chicken Scampi (because egg noodles ARE long), but she corrected me on that one. So, I'm making the right thing tonight! Whew!
Tonight we're having a family dinner to celebrate. Then, tomorrow she's having her first "friend" birthday party with a "Taylor Swift" theme. It's going to be really casual since I just officially invited people on Wednesday. Last-minute party planning...that's how I roll...at least after Christmas anyway. Lu isn't a big fan of crowds so the guest list is small -- her sister, her cousins, and her two friends from around the corner. But, we're all looking forward to it! Hopefully, I'll be able to post some pics about the festivities next week.

Have a great weekend!
