Father's Day Menu

A couple of years ago on Father's Day morning, I asked Brett what he would like as a special dinner that evening. He didn't hold back. He quickly rattled off a list of requests -- Crab Cake for the appetizer, Grilled Tri-Tip for the main course and Lemon Cream Cheese Pie for dessert. I paused for a second. I had never really made any of his requests. Yes, we'd had tri-tip before, but he usually grilled it. As for the crab cakes and pie, I had never made it nor did I have a recipe. But, I had asked him what he wanted, so I was determined to deliver.*

After some cookbook research, internet research and a visit to the grocery store, I managed to pull off a fabulous meal. I'm guessing that he probably grilled the tri-tip -- I honestly don't remember. But, I made the rest of the meal. Although we probably won't have tri-tip this year since we no longer live in "tri-tip country," I'm sure we'll have something yummy. I just might even make the crab cakes and the pie because they are just that good.

*And yes, he really is lucky to be married to a woman like me. :) Oh, and I'm lucky to be married to a man like him.
