Lucie's 1st Doctor Visit

Lucie had her first visit with Dr. Howe on Tuesday. I must say, she did a fantastic job. She was sound asleep when we got there and woke up during the exam. Rather than get upset, she just stared intently at Dr. Howe while he examined all her parts. She only got upset when she was put on the cold scale. Because she weighed 8 pounds, 3.5 ounces -- up half an ounce from her discharge weight at the hospital -- Dr. Howe wanted to see her again on Friday just to make sure that she was gaining weight. Well, we went back and she had gained 8.5 ounces in 3 days! So, this little girlie is doing well.

Today we had to head to the hospital to do a hearing screening. Normally, this would be done before discharge from the hospital but the nurses who were trained on the new equipment were sick and/or not available when we were there. Apparently, hearing problems are the most common form of birth defect, and it is now required that all newborns have a hearing screening at the hospital. So, we had our first family trip to SB to have that done. Thankfully, she passed the test and has normal hearing at this point in her life.

We feel very blessed to have a happy and healthy new baby!
